Owning one of theses supercars can cost you quite a bit to insure, here’s an idea how much.

Many people believe that status symbols are a way showing off success. And of all status symbols, one of the first things that comes to mind is an expensive car. There are expensive cars, and then there are supercars, those which will set you back in the six or even seven digits. But it’s not just the sticker price you’ll have to deal with, check out what it’s cost you to insure one of these babies.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport comes in at a whopping $2 million base price. There were only 150 made so as a status symbol it’s at the top of any list. It’s one of the most expensive and fastest cars in the world and features all wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 2.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 252mph with the hard top on. If you want all this, make sure you keep a little extra in your pocket for insurance. Insuring this speedster, depending on the features will run you in the neighborhood of $2,943.78 per month.

Don’t need all that power and expense? The Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster is a little more reasonable and may be for you. With a base price of $534,485 you can get the fastest automatic car in the world with a top speed of 206mph, going from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds. At 617 horse power the average monthly insurance for this roadster is an affordable $2,715.86

If you want to be even more reasonable, you can shop around and find a good deal on a Lamborghini. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV will only cost you $450,000. But if you want one of these you must hurry because they only made 350 of them and it’s going to be phased out. You can cruise at a top speed of 212mph and get from 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds. And the best part is the insurance will only cost you about $2,863.03 per month.

Looking at what some of these cars cost to insure makes what most people pay for insurance seem like a drop in the bucket.
